Chenequa is one of the most private communities in Wisconsin, a village of roughly 500 people spread across the shores of Pine Lake, Beaver Lake, and part of North Lake. The roads wind, the lots are large, and almost nothing is visible from the street.
The name comes from the Potawatomi word for pine, and the village incorporated in 1928 largely to preserve exactly the character it still has. There is no commercial district by design.
Pine Lake is deep and clear by Wisconsin standards, which is why it drew Milwaukee and Chicago families out here to build summer places more than a century ago. Many of those estates are still in the same families.
Discretion matters here, and we understand that. Chenequa clients get a private room, an appointment that is not stacked against three others, and results that nobody can point to and name.
Chenequa has its own police department, which is unusual for a village this small, and it reflects how seriously the community takes looking after itself. Chenequa Country Club has been on Pine Lake for over a century. Almost everything here is generational, from the club memberships to the boat slips to the families who have been coming back to the same stretch of shoreline for four and five generations now.
