CoQ10 Injections in Waukesha, WI

Mitochondrial support, minus the hype

$30 Single intramuscular injection

A Raw Glo nurse preparing an injection at Raw Glo Med Spa in Waukesha, WI

The short version

Coenzyme Q10 is what your mitochondria use to turn food and oxygen into energy, and your levels drop with age and drop further on a statin. The injection skips the gut, where oral CoQ10 absorbs poorly. We will also be straight with you about where the evidence is solid and where it is not.

What CoQ10 injections is

Coenzyme Q10 is a compound your cells already make. It sits in the mitochondria, the part of the cell that turns food and oxygen into usable energy, where it carries electrons along the chain that produces ATP. It also works as a fat-soluble antioxidant inside cell membranes. Your natural levels fall with age, and statin medications lower them further, because the pathway statins block to make cholesterol is the same one your body uses to make CoQ10. The injection delivers it intramuscularly rather than through the gut.

What to expect

It is a quick intramuscular shot, usually in the upper arm or the hip, and the appointment takes about fifteen minutes including the conversation beforehand. Most people describe a brief sting and some mild soreness at the site for a day. There is no downtime and you can go straight back to your day. We will ask what medications you take before we draw anything up, because CoQ10 interacts with a few of them.

What the research actually shows

CoQ10 is marketed hard, and the evidence is more mixed than the marketing. Here is where the published research sits on each of the common claims, including the places it does not support them. Almost all of this comes from oral supplementation trials, which matters, as the last row explains.

The claim Evidence What the research found
Reduces fatigue Mixed A 2022 meta-analysis pooled 13 randomised trials covering 1,126 people and found a signal for reduced fatigue. Effects were modest and the trials varied in dose and population.
Eases statin-related muscle pain Mixed Across seven randomised trials in 389 statin-treated patients, four found a significant reduction in muscle symptoms and three found no change. It is the most plausible use case and still not settled.
Improves exercise performance Not shown A 2026 meta-analysis of 24 trials concluded CoQ10 offers little to no benefit for exercise performance compared with placebo.
Softens fine lines Mixed A placebo-controlled trial of 150mg daily for 12 weeks found reduced wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, with no effect on skin hydration, thickness or sun protection. Small trials, modest effects.
Helps blood sugar control Mixed A 2026 umbrella review of meta-analyses found a reduction in fasting blood glucose but no change in HbA1c, fasting insulin or insulin resistance. Fasting glucose alone is a weak endpoint.
Injection beats oral Not shown No published human trial has compared intramuscular CoQ10 against oral. The 100 percent bioavailability figure that circulates comes from compounding pharmacy marketing, not a study. Oral absorption is genuinely poor, which is the theory behind injecting it, but theory is not evidence.

Raw Glo's own flyer says it plainly: these are CoQ10's natural roles, and benefits from injections are not established. We would rather you book this knowing that than find out afterwards.

CoQ10 Injections questions, answered

How much does a CoQ10 injection cost? +

$30, which puts it alongside our other vitamin injections. The appointment takes about fifteen minutes and it is easy to add onto another service you are already booked for.

Is injected CoQ10 better than taking a capsule? +

Nobody has proven that. Oral CoQ10 is genuinely poorly absorbed, which is the reasoning behind injecting it, but no published human trial has compared the two routes head to head. Anyone quoting you a 100 percent bioavailability figure is repeating pharmacy marketing rather than a study.

Who is most likely to benefit? +

The clearest case is someone taking a statin, because statins deplete CoQ10 through the same pathway they use to lower cholesterol, and that is where the trial evidence is strongest, even though it is still mixed. People dealing with persistent fatigue are the next most common reason clients ask about it.

Who should not have it? +

Talk to your physician first if you take warfarin, since the reports on how CoQ10 affects INR conflict and nobody should be guessing with an anticoagulant. The same applies if you take insulin or other diabetes medication, because CoQ10 can lower insulin requirements. We will not inject anyone who is pregnant or nursing.

What are the side effects? +

Usually nothing beyond brief soreness at the injection site. With oral CoQ10 the reported effects are mild and mostly digestive, plus occasional headache, dizziness or rash, and some people report mild insomnia above 100mg a day. Elevated liver enzymes have been seen with long-term high oral doses, without reported liver toxicity.

How often would I come in? +

There is no established schedule for the injectable, because the trials were done on daily oral dosing. Most clients who try it come in every two to four weeks alongside their other injections. We would rather you run it for a couple of months and tell us honestly whether you noticed anything.

Will I feel something straight away? +

Probably not, and we would be sceptical of anyone promising you will. CoQ10 works at the level of cellular energy production rather than as a stimulant. In the oral trials where benefits appeared, they took weeks to show up.

Is this FDA approved? +

CoQ10 is sold as a dietary supplement, and the injectable form is compounded by a pharmacy rather than approved by the FDA as an injectable drug. Compounded medications are legal and common in this setting, but it is a different regulatory category from an approved drug and you should know which one you are getting.
